50 Years of Redken in Amsterdam

Sam Villa & Amsterdam Models

Sam Villa and the models from the Redken Grand Opening

I recently had the privilege of attending a huge Redken event in Amsterdam. This grand celebration of Redken’s 50th Anniversary presented what Redken has done for stylists to earn a better living and live a better life – through an inspiring educational event. The experience was one not to forget! Here is my recap.

It all started with the Redken Grand Opening event. Invited guests arrived at the NH Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky, a historic hotel which dates back to 1865, located in the center of Amsterdam close to the house of Anne Frank and the Van Gough Museum. My focus for the event was a combination of volume and texture as well as compressed cutting techniques. The Grand Opening lasted for about one hour. The models looked incredible and the education was well received! See photos from the Grand Opening event here.

After the Grand Opening, everyone went to the Redken Fashion Show where Replay was the featured designer for the event. The atmosphere at the fashion show was incredible! Models walked down a long white runway surrounded by seats on every side. There were colliding textures in clothing such as satin lace paired with jeans and lots of other detached fabrics. It reminded me just how strong disconnection was in fashion and hair.  Fashion really has become 3-dimensional just as hair is becoming 3-dimensional. The looks were put together by Replay and the hair was done by the amazing Redken Artist team from Holland! Great job guys, the hair looked awesome! To see pictures from the Fashion Show click here.

Amsterdam Boat Dinner Cruise

One of the boats that took us from the fashion show to Werck Nightclub

From the show, we all boarded small boats that took us through the Amsterdam canals. What an experience this was! We were served dinner and drinks as we cruised to our final destination for the night, Werck Nightclub.

Werck Nightclub had been converted to a Redken Nightclub for the night. The windows adorned Redken 50 Year decals along with the doors and the bar. Everyone danced and celebrated into the night. I was so fortunate to take part in a special event that combined people from 7+ countries. It was truly a Redken celebration of the last 50 years!!! See photos from Werck Nightclub here.
