The Bardot – The Cover in the Making

Lya Navarra, Sales Promotion Manager for Sam Villa, blogs about her time in the studio over the weekend with Sam Villa and the crew shooting ‘The Bardot’ DVD cover.

Driving into NYC this morning I just knew it was going to be a successful day…fabulous sunshine, crisp spring air and no traffic!

Chelsea Market was all a-buzz with breakfasts-to-go and as I made my way past 9th Street Espresso and onto the elevator I received the once-over as I pushed the button for the 6th floor.   The doors open to reveal “The Space”  – a privately owned haven for photo shoots with five spectacular rustic industrial lofts.  Aristeo Tengco, owner of Emanuel New York Models, could not have picked a better location to shoot the cover of Sam’s latest DVD in the Aspire Tour Series, The Bardot.

As I arrived make-up artist, Jameson Kirkland was tuned in to transforming Sam’s model, Christina in to a youthful, daring and sexy Brigitte Bardot – soft, natural face and cheeks made the daytime smoky eyes pop.

Sam then proceeded to go to work on Christina’s hair assisted by Redken Artist Saymara Correa.  Sam’s vision for the cover shot would be a soft and natural contemporary “bubble”.  And we got the DVD cover shot in the first segment!  Christina was a “natch”, playing into the camera like a little sex kitten.  We could have called it a day but we wanted more…

The afternoon continued with looks for editorial and soft natural looking curls to show off the versatility of this double-identity “do” that can be worn as a modern “bubble” or as a modern, natural shag.

Photographer Nico Iliev had a perfect eye and absolutely came through for Sam in this shoot.  We got what we came for and more…you will see for yourself very soon as we launch The Bardot – and yes, it was a perfectly successful day!
