Welcome back to another version of FACT OR CRAP! Below are the results from last week’s questions:

Question 1. The fastest growing fingernail is on your thumb. FACT or CRAP?

38% answered FACT and 62% answered CRAP! And the correct answer is: CRAP! Although many people perceive the thumb as having the fastest growth rate, they are wrong. The nail on the middle finger grows the fastest and the nail on the little finger grows the slowest.

Question 2. Blondes have more hair on average. FACT or CRAP?

38% answered FACT and 62% answered CRAP! The correct answer is: FACT! The average human head has over 100,000 individual strands of hair. Blondes (on average) have about 140,000 strands which is way more than brunettes—108,000 and redheads—90,000. Since blonde hair has less pigmentation the hair shafts tend to be slimmer, and require more hairs to adequately cover the scalp. Conversely, since red hair tends to have a greater diameter, it takes fewer hairs to cover the scalp.
