Artificial Texture: Textur Volume
Watch the full Textur Volume technique as seen in the Artificial Texture DVD. Sam shows how to create volume in fine hair using the new Textur iron.
Now let's talk about what we can do to create volume in fine hair. Thank you for the Textur®, because that's exactly what's going to create the volume. It's going to create hidden secrets inside that you can't see. Watch what I'm talking about. We're going to stay about an inch to two inches away from the hair line. So we want to stay about an inch away, don't do anything to this section. Take vertical sections and we're going to elevate these sections straight out from the head. We're going to take Spray Starch 15 and spray. Taking the Textur®, we want to come in and create right at the base, an indentation a character of texture that changes the fabric. So when I compress, now can you see how that comes right out from the scalp. All we're doing is the inside; pretty cool! What we've done is taking the top and the crown area and we've isolated that. Let's do another section. Vertical slice, holding straight out from the head. Take your Spray Starch, the intention is at the base, that's where my focus of product is. Now let's come through and once again, Textur® right at the base. Now, you're probably wondering, Sam - why? Because this, I'm not going to do anything to, that's the top and crown area isolated. Underneath we have the nape area isolated. So all I'm doing is some of the side and the back area, working around vertically. Once I work my way around, you'll see what we'll do is simply drop the top over that, release the nape, let everything happen naturally like it does - but now you can see where I'm placing texture. So for example, if you wanted to you could go right into the crown area and do this in the crown area. So I could bump maybe one or two sections in the crown area and then bring the natural texture of hair over that - so you're hiding what it is you've created underneath. Once again, the purpose is so that I get a little more sense of volume at the base; that's what we're working for. Look at that. It's great for fine hair. A really great way to go in and help them. Now here's what I'm going to recommend. If you choose to sell the Textur® in the salon, we're going to suggest that you cellophane it with some product: Spray Starch, Fabricate, Iron Silk. Reason being, it's going to be important to understand that you're placing this texture at the base, you're going to want something that will protect it from the heat. Anything within the [Redken] Heat Styling line will do that. Look at how cool that is. Look how it just jets out from the scalp. Now I'm going to continue to work my way all the way around, vertical slices. I know you're going to have fun with this one. But what's really cool is place the volume where you want. This is just one idea for fine hair, to give it a little more fullness. Have fun, working with the Textur® to create textured volume.
