Artificial Texture DVDTake a sneak peak at Artificial Texture, the first DVD release in the Sam Villa Studio Sessions DVD series. In this compelling series, Sam Villa and Redken legend Chris Baran deliver 21 jam-packed texture techniques including, Texture Volume, Texture Weave, Marcel Wave, Cross Hatch, Ribbon Curl, and many more. Chris Baran also provides invaluable flat iron tips when using Sam Villa’s Sleekr and Textur irons.

Chris, I’m so excited to have you here as a special guest. Texture Waves. Let’s say that we want this section to kick. Modern Dread. Notice how when I do this all the hair comes off, but look as how it’s getting very coiled. Straight Technique. Make a C, imagine the C going in towards the front on the right. I’m going to get a nice… what I call a running head start. Ribbon Curl. Rolling and sliding as I roll. Tail Curl. You can see that it’s more difficult to control the twist the further away my index and my thumb are. Texture Curl. It comes through, overlap and we are going to twist and wrap. Paper Curl. Pinch on to that. Now compress and release. Texture Waves. Slide out, turn over and replace right were we foil. It’s a very, very interesting texture in terms of the end result. This is a texturizing iron that allows you to create texture, a sense of volume in their hair that’s going to be long lasting. When a hairdresser is creative they are using the flat iron in a variety of different ways. Hybrid flexible plates. They are flexible but they are not elevated. Cross Hatch. There is my horizontal, there is my vertical. Right in the middle that is going to give me exactly the angle that I want. Marcel Wave. Gentle massaging motion. I had an open end and a closed end of the C. Texture Sewing. Place it underneath and pull, walk over to the other side and like magic the hair starts to move up. You can see that you can do a lot of things with the Sleekr: curls, texture. Textur iron is something that creates it that nothing else does. Enjoy Artificial Texture.
