Braids continue to be our go to hairstyle for any occasion. Not only are braids the perfect hairstyle for lived in hair, it gives the illusion that you spent hours styling your hair when in fact you spent a few short minutes.

The popular fishtail braid is one of the most versatile braids of them all. From weddings to the beach, you can dress it up with curls and flowers or head to the beach with texture and a messier look. Either way, we love a gorgeous fishtail and we especially love when they are this easy to create!

Watch the video above and read below and find out just how easy and gorgeous this fishtail braid is. Lets get started!

Take a section at the front of the head, hold upright and spray with Redken Quick Tease 15. Allow the product to set for a few seconds. Then clip the upper section up. Take hair over to your preferred side and secure into a ponytail. Take a thin section, smooth and twist around the ponytail ans secure with a pin.

Begin by taking the ponytail and dividing into two sections. Take your pointer finger, release a quarter sized section and cross over to the opposite side.

Do the same thing with the opposite side, pointer finger, quarter section and cross over. Remember to keep tension on the braid.

Repeat all the way to the end of your ponytail and secure with elastic. Release the clip holding the front section of your hair and spray with Redken Quick Tease 15, allowing for more texture and volume. Take that section straight back and pin any short layers. For more volume, backcomb the section before pinning. Lightly pull apart the fishtail braid and spray with Quick Tease 15 to add more texture.

Simple enough right? For a more polished look don’t pull the braid apart. You can go as messy and textured as you would like! In just a few short minutes you’ve got a gorgeous fishtail and everyone will be asking how you did it.
