Last week we spoke about the movement of black women opting for their natural look. One of the comments we received from La Shawn here on our Facebook page was that "going natural has been a movement for the last 20 years."
I recently read an article in the Trends section of BIR (Beauty Industry Report) from Mintel an award-winning leader in global market research. Quote from the article According to Mintel, natural is the new normal in black hair as relaxers now account for just 21% of black hair care sales down from 26% in 2011.
About 70% of black women say they currently wear or have worn their natural (with no relaxer or perm) in the past 12 months... With this all said, the market for shampoo, conditioner, treatments and styling aids for natural black hair will surely increase.
