Undone is OUT, but ‘undone with quality’ is definitely IN!  It’s no longer enough to make something look tousled to be cool, it has to look ruffled with polish. Taking a cue from the popularity of braids, Sam Villa, top Redken stylist, has a technique for creating overnight waves that are ‘undone with quality.’ Overnight Waves

  1. Emulsify product in hand and use fingers to run through hair to flatten and control the cuticle.  Try Redken satinwear 02/light hold, Redken iron silk 07/medium hold or Redken hot sets 22/high hold.
  2. Take random horizontal sections from ear to ear, starting at the nape, don’t need to do a lot.  Braid sections from scalp to the very ends – the larger the braid, the larger the wave.  Keep it small for more explosive texture.
  3. In the morning, remove elastic and finger through sections.  If more definition is needed, apply Redken outshine 01 anti-frizz polishing milk.

…or, just leave daytime braids in place and see what happens in the morning!
