Redken held their annual Cut-A-Thon in New York City on September 20, 2010 with precedes benefiting City of Hope.
Despite the incumbent weather there was a terrific turnout of 341 guests who came out to support this great event. Over 75 stylists and support staff come every year at their own expense from all over the United States, Canada and Europe to participate in this fun event that gives us all a great sense of giving to a great cause. This year, Sam had the great pleasure of being assigned to cut Denise Cohens hair. Denise was diagnosed with Breast Cancer on June 16, 2010. After many doctors, tests and research, Denise decided to have a mastectomy done at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NYC. Denise was in NYC on the day of the Cut-A-Thon. She is one of 400 patients who were accepted into trial treatments at Sloan Kettering and was staying at The Hope Lodge courtesy of The American Cancer Society. Denise and her sister happened to walk past Redken and saw the huge sign in the window of The Redken Gallerie about the Cut-A-Thon and immediately wanted to participate. Denise has begun to lose her hair but so lucky for her that she has a TON of hair! She says most people have not even noticed. But for her, she can certainly feel how it has thinned out. Sam gave Denise a great cut that made her smile from ear to ear! She was so thankful to everyone. Way to go Denise! We wish you all the best and keep up that beautiful smile!
