It's all in the rhythm and it's the rhythm that's gonna get you! Get you on the right track, that is!

In the video above, Sam is going to show us a couple of cool tricks on how to work smart with our hands to control our braids. Often times, the beginning of our braids can be difficult, maybe even a bit messy. The middle and end seem to be easier and cleaner.

First things first the prep. You need to add "slip" to the hair and Sam's product of choice is Redken Diamond Oil Shatterproof Shine. This leave-in oil for all hair types seals, coats and smoothes the cuticle to boost shine and protect hair from the friction we apply when braiding and knotting!

Place a couple of drops in the palm of your hand and emulsify for even coverage. Evenly distribute through the hair with your palms and fingers.

Concentrate on the "start" of the braid the critical area to achieve smoothness. In the video below, discover how to simplify your braids by maintaining a rhythm:

  1. Palm.
  2. Pinch.
  3. Flip.
  4. Middle.
  5. Slice.
  6. Feed.

You'll notice how Sam easily manipulates each strand and how he feeds the hair into the pinch. You will quickly discover that the "pinch" is critical when mastering braiding. If you can control the pinch, you will control the braid! Watch the video tutorial above and learn how to keep control of your braids.
