Protect Your Body
Do you suffer from pain in your elbow, shoulder, wrist or thumb? Your shears may be to blame. Opposing grip shears have blades that point upward, requiring more input from the elbow and shoulder to get the right angles. Our crane handle design keeps your elbow relaxed and your hand in a neutral, natural position. Minimal thumb movement is needed to place the shear into the hand and to open and close the shear, allowing you to perfect your craft without injury.
Cut With Precision
It’s important to have a wide range of tools at your fingertips to select the perfect shear for each styling technique. The 5.75” shear is excellent for detailed precision cutting. With the smaller blades, you can get closer to the head and create elegant, clean lines your guests will love.
Glide Smoothly Through Wet or Dry Hair
Our strong Japanese Molybednum Alloy blades slide through hair with zero drag or pull. Whether you’re working with wet or dry hair, these handcrafted convex blades start out sharper and hold their edge longer than machine beveled blades. The unique leaf spring tension system expands tension across the length of the blades instead of only at the pivot. The result? Shears that cut through hair like a knife through soft butter.

Salon owner
I really like the shears. The only down fall is when the plastic/rubber stopper comes off the scissors have to have a new one before I can ise them again.

Precision cutting
These shears are extremely comfortable and provide a crisp cut to every section. I would highly recommend them. Great for cutting short haircuts that require going up and around the ears.

Too offset for me…
I have other offset shears, but these are way different. Right now I’m not loving them. I continue to use them in hopes they feel better, plus I cannot return them.

Hi there! Here are some tips to help you get used to your crane-handle shear :) Most stylists are not used to a crane handle. They are used to off-set handles and keeping their elbow up and the blade down, cocking their wrist to make the blade be horizontal - keep your elbow at your side from 0 degrees to about 90% at the head - lift when you go to layer and point cut. With the crane handle, work the thumb hole with the TIP of the thumb (it's not good to have your thumb all the way through the ring hole). Some stylists will take the finger rings out to get their thumb to fit all the way into the hole and this is not good. Busy stylists, such as yourself, get frustrated that this design slows them down at first. Try to commit to working healthier - ergonomically. Times varies with how long it will take you to get used to the crane handle and may require a bit of getting used to. Most stylists state it takes 2-4 days to acclimate. Sam's ultimate goal is for you to have a shear that you love and we believe within 7 days you will be in love! Please try to use the shear on your last client of the day for 5-7 days and let us know how you are doing. If you are still experiencing issues acclimating to your new shear, please send us an email at info@samvilla.com so we can assist you further. We definitely don't want you to be unsatisfied with your purchase! In the meantime, here are some helpful videos: This is a link from YouTube of Sam teaching about our shears: ergonomics, how to position them, how to position your elbow, how to care for the shears, etc: http://youtu.be/tAVXQm5p7O8 Here is another link for a really cool technique to cut a fringe that is extremely popular - I know you are going to want to try this technique right away!: http://youtu.be/8jGJjLdZp8w Here is also a blog post on palming the shear: http://www.samvilla.com/pro/blog/2014/07/how-to-palm-your-crane-handle-shears-when-cutting-hair/ We hope this helps you in getting used to the shear! -The Sam Villa Team
